KIN PATHWAYS

The Journey to Independence

KIN PATHWAYS is our signature child + grownup program designed for young children from 10 months to 2.5 years.

Each pathway follows a steady weekly rhythm, giving children the chance to explore movement, music, art, and early STEM with the guidance of skilled teachers, who foster within the safe presence of a grownup.

Pathways grows with your child

Pathway One
(10-15 months)

Soft beginnings with sensory play, exploration, and first friendships

KIN Pathway 1 is a thoughtfully designed monthly program for toddlers and young preschoolers, offering an immersive learning experience that gently supports children as they begin to build independence within a nurturing, caregiver-supported environment.

Classes are 60-minute caregiver-and-child sessions that intentionally weave together all core KIN domains into one cohesive and balanced experience. Children engage in a consistent rhythm that promotes focus, confidence, and a sense of belonging, while still allowing for exploration and creativity.

Each class incorporates:

  • KIN MOVE – Coordination, rhythm, and growing physical confidence

  • KIN MUSIC – Musical foundations naturally woven throughout the class flow

  • KIN THINK – Creative expression, construction, and inquiry-based exploration

  • KIN STUDIO – Musical foundations naturally woven throughout the class flow

Caregivers remain present as active partners, while children are gently encouraged to participate more independently, follow classroom routines, and engage as part of a learning community.

Families may build a schedule that best suits their child’s developmental needs, while children benefit from consistency, variety, and intentional progression within each class.

Pathway Two
(15 months-2 years)

Bigger challenges, richer projects, and
the first steps toward independence

KIN Pathway 2 is a thoughtfully designed Whole Child-Integrated™ program for toddlers and young preschoolers, offering a rich, immersive learning experience that supports the whole child — body, mind, creativity, and connection.

Children participate in 90-minute caregiver-and-child classes within a consistent cohort, allowing for deeper focus, meaningful peer relationships, and continuity with educators. This extended class time supports sustained attention, collaboration, confidence-building, and emerging independence — essential foundations for the transition to preschool.

What makes KIN Pathway 2 unique is its integrated daily experience. When families enroll, children engage in all four KIN learning domains in a single class session, on any day they choose, while maintaining a consistent rhythm and structure.

Each class includes:

  • KIN MOVE – Gross motor development through gym play, sports exploration, and creative movement

  • KIN MUSIC – Live instrumentation, original music, diverse musical genres, and interactive musical experiences

  • KIN THINK – A creative learning journey blending discovery, early math, and literacy in a playful, child-led environment

  • KIN STUDIO – Process-based, sensory-rich, Reggio-inspired creative exploration and hands-on tactile learning

Caregivers remain present throughout the class, supporting children as they practice independence, self-help skills, and social engagement within a nurturing, community-based setting.

Families may build a schedule that best suits their child’s developmental needs, choosing the day that works best — while receiving the full, integrated KIN experience every time.

Pathway Three Bridge
(18 months-2.5 years)

Guided transition and gentle separation toward school readiness

KIN Pathway 3 - Bridge is grounded in The Stewart Method, our educational philosophy developed at Perry School over 25 years of hands-on work with children and families. The Stewart Method blends:
    •    Reggio-inspired, child-led inquiry
    •    Intentional structure and rhythm that support independence
    •    Deep respect for the child as a capable learner
    •    Carefully scaffolded social-emotional growth
    •    Learning through movement, music, art, and sensory exploration.

Children are offered meaningful choices within a thoughtfully prepared environment, allowing curiosity, confidence, and connection to grow naturally.

KIN Pathway 3 - Bridge includes all core elements of our KIN pathway programming, intentionally woven together through The Stewart Method:

    •
KIN Music – (instrumentation, original music, diverse musical genres, and interactive musical experiences)
    •    KIN Move (gross motor development, coordination, body awareness)
    •    KIN Studio (process-based art and sensory exploration)
    •    KIN Think (early literacy, early math concepts, and critical thinking)
    •    Social-emotional development
    •    Cooperative play and early classroom routines

Children have their own dedicated classroom environment, and teachers actively observe and respond to emerging interests, creating a warm, responsive learning experience that evolves with the group.

By the end of KIN Pathway 3 - Bridge, children are typically well-prepared to enter a more independent preschool setting with confidence and ease.
